Legally changing your name?

what are the steps you must take?

Answers:
I could be wrong, but I think that each state has their own requirements and laws regarding a name change. I had mine changed (My whole name-first, middle, and last name) changed a number of years ago. I had to fill out some forms, pay a fee, then at a later date, I had to go to probate court and have a hearing before a probate judge. It really wasn't that big of a deal, and my name change was approved. I guess it depends on where you live.
