Has anyone ever gotten yelled at for not having shoes on?
The other day I was walking down the street downtown in my socks. Then all of a sudden some lady started screaming at me that I was breaking the law by not wearing shoes in public. Has anyone else ever had someone start yelling at them for being without shoes in public?
Answers:
Have never heard that, but could be a law in your city. Call a police station and ask. She needs some calming music or something, though.
I have never heard of a law saying you must wear shoes on a public street. Now, in a store, an eatery, or driving, that's a different story.
ever heard of athelete's foot? i advise u to wear ur shoes!!
Some people are just busy-bodies. I've only been yelled at by teenagers, usually in groups, but they've yelled at me sometimes about other things too; I sometimes wear gothic clothing, have at times dyed my hair a pretty bright red, have worn bells in my hair... some people will just yell at anyone who looks different. Ignore it and they'll give up & find another victim to pick on. And there are NO laws about going barefoot in public, and NOT in stores and restaurants either. However in the US this is a common myth; you'll probably meet people who believe it every now and then (although most people will just tell you rather than scream about it). Print out your state letter from the website in the source.
