Legal Name Change In California?

I have yet to find the info I need on changing my name.

Everything seems to cater to the just married or divorced and I am in neither situation. I just want a full name change.

What do I need to do?

Do I need to hire anyone?

How much will it cost

you don't need to hire anyone. you just need to be an adult. go to your city hall and check it out. We had a name change in the family, neither divorced nor married.

I think you need a birth certificate too...
as for the cost? I dunno.
