I have two clients that have had bypass surgery in the past, they work in a factory where the owner....?

let his employees smoke inside. This is really affecting my clients health they don't want to complaint because they don't want to get in trouble with their co-workers plus besides they told me that many people had complaint in the past and the only thing that they got out of it was en enemies because the owner doesn't really care about it. This clients are like family to me and I really care about them. I know their health it's at high risk but I don't know how to help them since they don't want their names to be mention, they are afraid they could loose
their jobs. Any idea of what I can do to help them?
I'm totally upset about their situation and I can't blame them for not wanting to complaint they are 54 and 62 years old and they are afraid no one will hire them if they loose this job.

Answers:
Like the previous answer I am a smoker as well. If there are not any state or local laws prohibiting smoking inside the building there isn't much that can be done except maybe suggest that there be a separate area for smokers. If the employer is aware of the health risk and does nothing to compensate then eventually they could be held liable for healthcare risk environment issues. You may want to check the link I have posted below. Also check with your state labor department and see what they advise.

I'm a smoker, so I will not try to sugarcoat things or blow it out of the water. If you try to attack an issue such as smoking and heart disease you have to factor in a few things. 1: Is the client eating heathily? (you'll see that argument a few times) If they are stopping at McDonald's everyday, they are a heart attack case waiting to happen. And I have known a few lawyers to pull that out of there ***. 2. Are the non-smokers going into an area that is not clearly designated for them. I.E.. Are they going into an area that is clearly marked smoking. If so then they are taking there own chances. The health factor of the manufacturing area would have to be steadily reviewed, and in that situation it goes back to mob mentality and "who" ratted us out. Because while they are trying to figure out what happened, a whole new problem will jump up snd bite them on their ***.
What kind of clients are these? I mean why are they coming to you? are you an attorney?

Your grasp of the English language suggest that you are NOT!

Tell your friends to contact a lawyer and have him write a letter of complaint, he can do this without mentioning their names, this plus the possibility of a lawsuit should get some action while your friends identity is kept secret.
