I was wondering if this truly benefitted the youth partaking in this or is it just a way for a television network to make money.

Answers:
No. It isn't educational.. it's more like "Little Brother" or a modern version of Lord of the Flies.

It's a way to sell advertising space in the great chasm of cable programming.

I guess it's about time the producers let kids and their parents make some money off of dumb reality TV. It probably benefits them about as much as grownups are benefitted by "Survivor" and "Big Brother."
It's not educational. It is just another stupid reality show(stupider than most).
Actually I think that is very neat. And it is educational, it will teach the children watching about working within a society, etc.
