Are Churches That Refuse Baptism To People On Parole/Probation Nuts?
The Churches that refuse baptism to people on Parole and Probation? I went to a church like this for a year. I had mixed feelings about it. On one hand I thought that if more churches had this policy their would not be nearly as much crime. I mean, look at Utah. But on the other hand, I felt like, you could really cause a person to go insane by making them think that God doesn't forgive them. I ended up in the mental hospital twice while going to this church. Once I was off parole and they told me that as a Bipolar I was not accountable before God and didn't need baptized, I left.

I am an Athiest and this is one of the many reasons why.
Gos is supposed to love everyone. What a crock.

Wrong.
Good thing you left! That is bad doctrine, my man!
That sounds strange to me, since if someone repents, according to the bible, they will be forgiven. Therefore, if they go to church, they should be welcomed with open arms. At least in my opinion.
No that is completely wrong. God says that if you are willing to ask for forgiveness and live by His word then all shall be forgiven. It is hypocrisy for a church of God to be this way, and especially say that you were not accountable before God. I would be finding a different church.
That is completely nuts. god forgives everyone who wants to be forgiven, you should definitely keep faith in god but find another church. Good Luck!!
Does not sound like a church to me.
you poor thing, (yes, i know--i live in Utah) that church sounds like theyre judgemental. they should want to help you i would think. try other spiritualities churches are sometimes not as accepting of people as one would think.
This entire thing sounds ludacris as it states in the bible " thous shalt not judge, lest ye be judged". No one is perfect, I am a Christian and I haven't been perfect for my entire life..no one has. So to tell a person they can't be baptized especially if they have confessed with their mouth and believe in their heart that Jesus Died on the cross to save all sinners and rose again on the third day, then why shouldn't the be dipped in the water to showcase their change in life and decision to follow Christ. It is this type of Church that keep people from following Christ. God is merciful, forgiving and a just God. He is the only one who walked a sin free life. Don't subject yourself to this idiocracy instead develop your own personal and intimate relationship with Jesus and find a church where you feel comfortable. All of us will know where we stand when Judgement day arrives. Stay Blessed and I hope this helps.
Jesus said,"I tell you the truth. Today, you will be with me in Paradise."
He said that to one of the two criminals on the crosses with him. Shame on that church. You need to find a new one.
Wow...gotta love churches that dont understand or uphold their own beliefs.
Churches should be willing to baptize in prison if its wanted byt the inmate, it isnt their place to withhold that.
Gosh, isn't Christianity about forgiveness and redemption? Sounds to me like you were in the wrong church.
anyone that says a baby goes to hell is there
I don't know about nuts, but definitely wrong. You hit the key point - if God forgives, so should the church. Everyone is accountable before God, and if you want to make the public declaration of your commitment to Him through baptism then the church should not refuse it.
Honestly, it really depends.
I come from an Independent Baptist background and can seem a slight justification of the original question, but perhaps not in the situation described. I/my church believes baptism to be a memorial to how Christ died for our sins and his resurrection, and that the person having it done is basically announcing to others that the old ways of sin are gone and a new attitude/life with Christ will commence. A criminal or a morally woeful person who feels no remorse for the wrongs committed, or believes that they have "done nothing wrong" should not be baptized in that sense.
However, that doesn't just apply to parole/probation, but everyone. If you can't admit to doing wrong and have an attitude for change, there is no need for the baptism
DON'T YOU WORRY, MY FRIEND, JESUS WOULD BAPTISE YOU IN A HEARTBEAT IF HE WAS HERE.
GOING TO A CHURCH DOESN' T MAKE YOU A CHRISTIAN IT IS WHAT IS IN YOUR HEART AND YOUR HEART IS A-OK!
FIND THE RIGHT MINISTER ON GO ON DOWN TO THE RIVER...AND BE YE BAPTISED !
I'm glad you left that church and hope you found a new church, preferably one that is led by a rational pastor. Salvation is God's, not man's, to dispense.
