Adult Child Suing Parents?

If I were to sue my father for child abuse and negligence, provide proof, and win the case, what would I be entitled to? I want restraining order against my father and I want him to pay for emotional damage which prevents me from carrying on a normal life.

And please don't pass any judgment. As for the severity of my condition, my first suicide attempt was at age 13 following a brutal attack from my father. Please let me know if you need more information.

I agree with the 1st person that responded. Talk to all of the following: Law officers, Prosecuting attorney, Attorney, and anyone else that was a direct wittiness - that being said someone that watched what happened. Knows you and your family and circumstances.

Course the thing is Does your father have any money or assets? Do you have money or assets to pay for an attorney? You do realize that if you get this far you will have to relive this thru a court trail. Just another point you may need to know.

Sorry to hear of your troubles but sometimes a person is just better to move on.

Not judging here but I think you should be talking to a lawyer and a shrink not yahoos on yahoo
good luck
You need to talk to a lawyer since the law varies from state to state.
