Why are periwigs going out of style?
If lawyers in America are such scum, shouldn't they be humiliated as much as barristers in Commonwealth countries and made to wear those ridiculous periwigs?

Actually - there was an article on that and why the alleged justices and barristers are possibly going to have to do away with theirs ...
First - they are stinky,
Second - there hasn't been another new one made in like 75 years and these ones are wearing out; and,
They are afraid to do many more cleanings on the ones they have ... if I remember right - they would hollow out a loaf of bread and put the wigs in there and bake them to clean them ...
At least that way it would kill the lice that was and is common with these bad babies ...
They don't have anyone else to make these things and they aren't going to creat a big market if they did so ... before - it was not just those OF THE INJUSTICE DEPARTMENT that wore them ... the commoners wore them as well - because they would shave mostly bald to keep the lice down and wear their wigs full of lice that they could shake out every night ...
I am with you - those over here in Amerika should also wear the wigs ... shoot - the guy sitting behind the bench playing with his wooden thingie - he dresses like his mother as it is - don't he?

Some years ago I was at the trial of a man I had arrested for a DUI. He and his lawyer were there, both in suits. The lawyer, however, looked like he had been wearing his suit for a week and sleeping in it as well. The Judge called him forward and, in front of everyone, told him his appearance was a disgrace. He ordered the lawyer out of his court and told him to return the following day, ". . .showered, shaved, and in a clean suit, or be prepared to spend a few days in jail for contempt"
That had to be the most humiliated lawyer I ever saw.
That would be great. I bet we would immediately cut the number of lawyers in half if they had to wear those crazy things. Less lawyers = better America.
