Under age drinking?
should people under 21 be allowed to drink if you answer no then why should they be able to join the military before there 21
Answers:
Well some places where soldiers are deployed overseas allows anyone enlisted to drink. We did it in Qatar. So there's your answer..and if you want to enlist first and then make that argument go ahead. But just bc you can enlist doesn't mean you should be allowed to drink. Now if you do enlist.then I'm open to at least hearing this argument. But too many times people under 21 make the argument that I can join and not drink..join first.
yes
no. they can join the millitary, because thats not a drink
YESSS they should!! please?
That a good question, and also why are people considered adults at 18 but can not drink until 21.
They're allowed to be killed, not allowed to kill themselves.
It doesnt matter weather we are or arent allowed.
We do it anyways,
The law againt it just makes it more exciting.
Let us do it and nothing will change,
But our parents will know.
yes i do
I think they should be aloud to drink under 21 as long as their not on the streets.
No too many drunks now
yes, idk about buying but to be able to drink under the age of 21 wouldnt be that bad
This is one of the lamest arguments anyone can come up with and people still think it helps prove a point.
It's not about being an adult before you can drink, it's about having your brain being fully developed. You can be mature enough to drink at 18 but your body isn't ready.
So again, anyone who wants to use the "but they can join the military at 18" excuse, try again.
Who friggen cares?? Are you and your friends that boring that you have to drink alcohol to be fun? Just the fact that you're asking this question shows that you're too immature to drink.
WHAT ABOUT THE ONES NOT IN THE MILITARY?
It has something to do with your ability to make certain judgements...honestly, I don't understand the law.
No. The military isn't really comparable to drinking. The military doesn't make you act stupid.
Of course. America has the highest drinking law that I know of. And you brought up a great point- why should 18 year olds be allowed to die in Iraq, but not drink a beer? It doesn't make any sense to me.
In some countries the legal age is actually younger than 21,
Here in australia is 18 but i know many people who are underage and drink within their own homes or at parties.
i agree. although i am totally against underage drinking, i think they should either lower the drinking age to 18 or raise the age to be deployed to 21. it doesn't make sense that you can go to war, yet come home and not be legally allowed to have a beer or glass or wine.
I think it should be lowered to 18, because at the age of 18, by then you are driving, and smoking, and getting tattoos..and like you said, join the military.
no they shouldnt and they shouldnt be able to smoke either.
drinking is different. Army can kill u but drinking makes u drunk and u can kill people.
no because if u drink b4 21 u are killing more braincells then when u are 21 or older. the military isn't killing ur brain, there teaching u more...
My opinion does not count anymore than yours does when it comes to the law. Here's mine:
When I was in the military, you could drink at the bars on the base. Now you can't. I agree with you - if you can fight for this country you shoudl be able to drink in it to. It wouldn't be hard to allow people with Military ID's to be allowed to drink.
If you join the military, go into the Navy and get on a ship...you get to see the world and drink in all ports outside the country.
The military argument was used years ago and the law was changed to 18. When it was, the number of underage drinking arrests and deaths increased. The 18 yo's were buying the younger friends alcohol. So they changed it back
the government does not care about you it only cares about making money...and getting OIL from foreign countrys
Don't like children being allowed to join the military. Think childhood should be until the age of twenty-five. Government should provide housing and schooling after eighteen. Drink when you're a legal adult. At twenty-five. Leave the killing and wars to the adults.
actually this is has been thought of a LONG time ago. the reason that alcohol is illegal is cuz that it can do major harm to pplz bodies that are too young.
its like when there are signs on hottubs saying that kids too young cant get in. its kinda like that. but alcohol can do so much harm to a young persons body.
i think at age 18 or even as young as 16 or 17 a person is at that age where they can chose for them selves what they want to do with there lives. although some people don't know how to handle there liquor even if there over 21 and i have seen people under 21 hold there liquor i guess its all about your level of maturity or the way you were raised weather or not you can run your own life or hold your liquor if you know what i mean
well maby 21 is too high, so like 18 would be good. You would have to respect the privlage and not like abuse it ya know? Like if an 18-21 year old was caught drunk driving they should get punshed harder. oh and in the milatary, they need more people so they lower the bar. ya know? We need people to fight for our country not get drunk and kill someone being stupied.
Alright hope this helps.
PS:DONT DRINK AND DRIVE
As an American woman raised in Europe, I have to say that America created a large problem for itself by seeing alcohol as something to prohibit. I strongly believe that if it were a regular, acceptable part of life and kids did't have to wait till age 21, we wouldn't see the issues with abuse of alcohol in teenagers...I also believe, as you do I suspect, that if this country is willing to put an 18 year old in the line of fire to defend me, he or she should be considerd old enough to have a beer!
