Can the Abulance & Fire Company in your town/city refuse to help you in a emergency?

Theres a woman I care for who is servely obese, she wieghs almost 600lbs. Obviously she has some health problems and isnt very mobile. Recently she had a bad fall and it took over 3 hrs just to get her off the floor. We live in a very small town and theres not really EMTs but there are ambulance volunteers. They were not equipped for a person her size and thats why it took so long to get her up. After she was hospitalized both ambulance and fire companies sent a letter to the Manor where she lives telling them that they no longer will be responsible for her in case of an emergency. So now that she is a liability to the Manor they have chosen to evict her and she now has until the end of this month to find a new place to live. Can they do that? Isnt that some kind of discrimination? I mean they helped that 1000 lb man with no complaints why does she have to suffer?

Answers:
contact the paper and the group that oversees nursing homes. anyone you can think of,contact them. it shouldn't be allowed to happen.

Call an attorney?! In fact, you should even right your local representative.
i could call the fire station and find out from the president or chief what the deal is.
in del 99% of our fire companies are vol.
if a service call comes in for someone that is very large they call for extra manpower. they can even put a "premise history" that pops up when we get a call for that address to advise that the res is large and might need x ppl for the call.

they might not have the ability to tag homes like hers like we can.
they should have at least sent out the ambulance crew and a rescue crew from the fire station too...
When I saw her laying there at 600 pounds ---- walk away.. Not hurting my back for that. They can fire me... They will not respond to her problems---not reasonable. Not equipment to offer reasonable care... Discrimination for 600 pound people there is not such law...You bet they can evict.. Miss she is suffering---I see the programs from the New Jersey hospital on TV... She is not allowed to dump her problem and responsibility (life and death)) on some one else... Could be that your concern that you would take her home and let her live in your garage---think so? You are a compassionate person and health giver... Good christian woman...could the church sponsor her?
