Why do all politicians seem to embed their religous views into their policies?

Shouldn't it be whats best for the people they serve and represent not what fits in with their views and beliefs?

Answers:
I don't think a lot of them do. I think that's a creation of the media and a prejudiced America.

Do you have any specific examples of what you mean? It seems to me that their constituents' religious views are more relevant than their own as far as their policies.
to get the conservetives on their side
do you really expect someone to go against everything that they believe is good and right? if the people wanted a stip club on every corner, should I make it happen? No! Those places attract crime and decay.
If you would try religion you would see it is best for you. What better to base your views on than your creator.
You're absolutely right, that's what they should do. But people like politicians to have views similar to them that they understand and relate to and most people in this country are religious. It's very easy to make things like abortion and gay marriage and stem cell research big issues, when so many other things are going on, because they are inflammatory and everyone has an opinion on them, mostly based on how they were raised themselves. Religion plays a big role in how people are raised.
Because they don't don't want to alienate themselves from the religious population...Too many votes to ignore. If one politician brings up religion as part of his/her platform, the rest of them are forced to fall into line. Otherwise, they risk losing votes. Imagine if a candidate were to announce that he was an atheist and believed in stem cell research and abortion and removing 'In God we Trust' from currency. Kiss that nomination goodbye. Instead, they all walk the fence in the attempt to not offend voters. Sad but true.
