I was thinking of becoming a Police officer. What are my chances?
Im 20 years old...soon to be 21. I do not have alot to show for all the work I've done in my life my big heart always seems to get in the way. And I have made some mistakes...breaking the law. But I've really started thinking about it lately and I want to do it! With me being a 20 year old Female...what are my chances?! Im pretty strong...I think Im pretty smart, I have common sense anyhow and Im a very determined person. Also, is there any literature I anyone suggests to read for the BEST research on being a police officer?! Thanks!

My suggestion to you is to contact your local Law Enforcement Agency and seek some qualified information from them. They can steer you in the right direction and tell whether your previous brush with the law will keep you from becoming a officer.
I don't think this is the place to get that type of information.
I wish you all the luck in the world!

It's very tough physically to pass the fitness tests. You have a good chance since you're still young and haven't had time to screw up your life yet. They do very extensive background checks so if you're smart and in good condition, you should have no problem.
Like anything else in life. There will be barriers, but if you really want it then your chances of becoming an officer are 100%- That is unless you have a bunch of felonies, and a gimp leg or something.
Unless you're a convicted felon, you might have a chance. Many law enforcement organizations require a college degree.
GO FOR IT !! He / She who swings, MAY miss ! He / She who never swings, can NEVER hit !
Good Luck

if your law problems were felonies, forget about it. if not, take a Criminal Justice program at your local community college.
Hey soon-to-be Officer Jennifer, determination will get you where you want to be. You're still young, I'll be slowing down when I see you.
