What are the penaties for ignoring the smoking ban?

i will not be dictated to by a government who has not even asked the people to vote on such a large scale change in the law. this sort of thing used to happen in Russia !!

Answer:
Naturally, the penalty for ignoring the smoking ban is a much shorter life. Also, recovery from any medical emergencies that may arise later in life can be complicated by said addiction.

£50 on the spot fine.
Big brother knows best. Big brother is watching...
going by today's paper it is a £50 fine and up to £200 if you get prosecuted. Premises owners get I think £2000 fine. dear ciggie ay.
Welcome to the British Dictatorship... Next they'll ban smoking in our homes and tax us on the amount of farts we do per household.
In most cases penelties are written under the warnings. Airlines can now fine you up $2500 and have you sent to jail for more than 6 months.
what ban? where and how? id be pissed off too! fight the power.question authority..
£50 fine and if your a repeat offender you get threatened with goin to court etc

whatever happened to be a free country and freedom of speech?
the government dictatin what you can do and where dont make me laugh we need a rebelion
did you hear ther was talks of banin smokin in cars ive never heard so much bo**ocks in my life i would like to see them try
We've had this in Scotland for some time now. It's not as bad as you'd think. You get good banter with the smokers outside the pub.

The penalty is £50 fine I think (and lung cancer).
it all depends wether it is an individual or a company...
if an individua ignores it then there is a £50 penalty reduced to £30 if paid withnn 15 days, but i it is a company then they get a £2500 all out fine
It is £50 for the smoker and up to £2000 for the pub/club owner of public space. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jht...
50 quid fine and off with the goolies.
there is no penalties..
how many times on public transport do you see scally kids smoking away when it clearly says 'no smoking'£200 fine etc..
clearly you can smell it,yet no1 bothers to do or say anything,in fear that they will get attacked..
For the individual it's £50 on the spot fine with more and potential court proceedings for repeat offenses.
For the owner of the premises e.g. landlord it's a slap on the wrist first time, then £2,500 fine with court appearance for future offences.
It's all a load of B.S if you ask me tho, if they really want us all to stop smoking, shut down B+H and L+B and the rest of em, that's the only way to do it. But in the long run everyone looses out coz where the hell are they gonna get the £9 billion from every year that they tax us for. Beer, petrol, council and income tax. It's bo****ks!
They'll try and ban smiling next - you know how Gordon hates that.
i hate this ban. We should have been consulted and there should have been some leeway.

Like premises can obtain alcohol licences, places should be able to obtain smoking licences. We are adults, we know what we are doing when we smoke.

I was at the bus stop today and I didn't know whether I was allowed to smoke or not. I didn't know where to put the butt and I was just totally fed up with it all.

I have started looking for pubs which has facilities for smokers. it is terrible.
look at it from the non smokers point, why should a lot of addicts expect us who are in the majority to inhale your spent smoke, how filthy!
