Copyrighted photographs?

What are the rules and regulations regarding a copyrighted image? Under what circumstances can such images be used? I need to use pictures from the internet for a class presentation. But it says "all rights reserved". Does that mean I cannot use the stuff?? What is the use of publishing copyrighted images on the net when they cannot be used by anyone (not even if we credit??) It may seem stupid to yall. But I really do not get the logic behind it!

Answers:
People who take photographs deserve to get paid for their work, just like authors and compposers. When you take their copyrighted work and use it for your own gain without paying for it, you are stealing their work.

The fact that it is often on the Internet makes it easier to take, but does not make it more legal.
