Familiar with Helium? Are they deceiving people?
Is Helium website a way of giving people false hopes? I joined Helium just to check it out. You create content and supposedly get paid if readers score your content high. I looked at the forum's page. It truly sad. One guy said he was retired and submitted about 50 articles to Helium and hasn't earned a nickel. He was surprised because he said Helium suggested that by writing, he'd be sure to make money. I've published fiction and essays in competitive and professional magazines and when given assignments, I get paid. The quality of a lot of helium's 'content' as really amateurish. The person to whom I refering--from what I've read of his stuff--is a terrible writer. He doesn't know the basics of writing. But the more people who write for Helium the greater chance they make money from their ads. Like Publishing Clearinghouse envelopes that say you've won $1,000,000. They have the nerve to say they are a great public service

I'm retired, and have written about 45 articles for Helium. So far, my account balance is only about two bucks. It seems to me there's not much effort on Helium's part to pay its authors; I suspect they keep a preponderance of all the advertising revenue and give the authors very little. -RKO- 08/09/07
