Can we agree to this about the girl suing Imus?
Just saw on the news that her lawyer is claiming how her self esteem was damaged. My thought was that if that hurt your self esteem, maybe you didn't have any in the first place.

I thought something like that too. I think that she needs to have counseling instead of suing. What he said about them when he didn't even know them shouldn't have anything to do with their reputation and they shouldn't take what comes out of his mouth to heart. Society is way to sue happy, its an wasy buck, well to them, it seems like a giant headache to me!

I don't approve of it at all. She's showing her true colors. Thinks she's entitled to more than the others.
I hope the court tells her that because of the others having been subjected to the same thing her case would have to be a class action suit.
That way only the attorney will come out the winner.
I can see the school suing Imus on behave of the team but not just one of the team members going after him.

Well looking at both sides here, i'm sure she actually did feel humiliation because it was made practically a global issue. Imagine being degraded and then the entire world is fed the story for weeks. Might have to deal with a lot of strife from dumb people. I think the lawsuit is pointless, but I don't doubt she's been humiliated by this. But I doubt it damaged her character, as she has alleged.
I thought that people joined team sports to help build self esteem and confidence etc. If she felt her self esteem was damaged perhaps she should sue her school and coach. Obviously they did not do their job in helping her with that issue. Hey, she could sue her parents too for malfeasance. The possibilities are endless!!

I think that she should only be allowed to sue if she also sues every rap artist who's CD she owns for the same reasons. After all, it's not about the money at all now is it? It has nothing to do with the fact that it was a white man who said it, right? She would do the exact same thing to ANY person who denigrated her that way, right?
