Why were the McCanns not arrested for child abandonment?
Wouldn't it be the case if parents left their small children at home and went off down town to a restaurant?

I was wondering the same thing. Were they at a restraunt in the same hotel? Sounded fishy to me from the start but I have not really followed the incident.

The same reason Lindsay Lohan got a walk on saying the Coke in her pockets was someone elses and Britt Reid (son of Eagles Coach Andy Reid) gets a walk on flashing a gun during a road rage insident..money talks. If you or I did it, we'd be cooling our heels in jail now.
This question has been asked AGAIN and AGAIN on here! A little four year old girl could have been murdered, raped, tortured, anything, and you're just thinking of how to punish the parents? Do you really need to ask?

If the mccans were in england then they maybe they wouldve have but then maybe not, unfortunately because of the of the money backing these neglectful parents, they should have been looking for their little girl instead of swannning around like movie stars, i can see not active role from them in actually looking for maddie, when thosands we out actually looking for her they were walking on the beach for goodness sake.

Because the offence/crime occurred in another country and therefore its up to that country's police force to charge them if they have broken any local laws.
Also it would not be in the public's interest for the police there to charge them, what more of a sentence do they need other than losing there daughter likely for the rest of there life, there would be a public uproar if the police charged them with it.
I think a lot of people are asking the same question, but as they are middle class Doctors they will get off scot free.
Same old question!.The offence if any was not committed in the UK .The UK authorities cant prosecute people for what they do in other countries that should be obvious.The criteria which constitutes an offence in law varies in different countries.
