How can I have a home searched with a warrant?

My neighbor is an ex convict and I hear that he has a history of being insane. He is not suppose to own any guns and yet smokes weed all the time and perhaps does cocaine. In a small town in Utah,we dont want any kind of crime or violence or shall I say in other words unlawful people living around here. Is there a way I can have the police search his house by having them obtain a search warrant? How can I go about doing that? Please help! Thanks!

The only way you can get the police to obtain a warrant is if you have proof that there is something illegal going on there. You can submit a complaint, but there is no guarantee that they will come out. I can understand you not wanting people involved in illegal activities living near you, but the fact is all you can do is report it to the cops and let them do their job.

Yes, you can file a false police report and then face the district attorney and a civil suit.
Smoking pot, although is stupid, doesn't make him a gun owner. Mind your own business.
You can call the police anoymously and make a complaint. You can't force them to obtain a warrant, they will choose to do so on their own. If you call, they will come. Especially if you live in a small town!
Ask a Lawyer to go in front of a judge and get a Warrant. Based on your "feelings" the judge will not issue it. If I were you I would check your local area criminal records, that is free.
you sound like the problem of the world. guy ain't bothering nobody. Sounds like the cocaine is just wishful thinking on your part.

Seems to me you are the one who is a threat. This guy probably doesn't have one thought about you while he smokes weed. But you go out of your way to harm him, you want to stick him in a cage because of his past not even what he's done to you. It is you who is dangerous, just like it is your murderous govt that kills hundreds of thousands of muslims everyday. tool.
I don't know - it sounds to me as though you're making assumptions based on someone's past rather than giving him the benefit of the doubt as to who he is today. Then again, I don't live next door to him so I don't see what you do.

A few years back some athletes at the Winter Olympics got busted for smoking weed. Their medals were stripped from them because marijuana was deemed a 'performance enhancing drug'. That's ludicrous. If your neighbor is smoking pot he's probably sitting around looking at butterflies and eating potato chips.

Don't get me wrong, I understand how you don't want to have undesirable things going on right next door. But unless he's actually doing something which is bothersome to you directly or unless he's making threats or doing drug deals in the front yard, your best bet is to just keep out of his business.

Nobody likes a busy-body neighbor.
Being labeled a "SNITCH", is something I wouldn't want, even in a Mormon town. Let me tell you something ..in case you forgot which country you live in..contrary to your beliefs, regardless of that man's past, he has a right to live where ever he chooses Just because you "THINK" he is "unlawful", doesn't give you the right to accuse, without proof. All you can actually attest to, is the fact he lives there. Follow the other answerer, call the Police, it'll be you that goes!!!......
If he did his time, he did his time. If he got paroled, he has a parole officer who is probably checking up on him pretty regularly anyway.

You "hear that" and "perhaps does", sounds like you dont really know. Yet, you want to turn his life upsidedown again, just because you think something about a guy you havent probably even gotten to know.

A lot of people are ex-convicts, doesnt mean that they are all bad people. Just means at one point in their life they made a mistake and did their time to pay for it.
ABSOLUTELY NOT, but if you get proof of illigal guns and drugs a warrant will be easily obtained
You said he smokes weed and "PERHAPS" does cocaine? Why are you jumping to conclusions if you barely know the guy? That is messed up that you want to see someone get locked in prison for something as simple as smoking weed.

Maybe you and all of your loved ones who drink beer and liquor should go to prison too. Does that sound fair to you? If he threatens you then I can understand your concerns, but it sounds like he's minding his own business and you just get a thrill out of being responsible for someone going to jail.

Don't do that to a person. If you call the cops on a pot smoker, that would be immoral on your part. Marijuana laws are immoral so don't support that. If he harasses some young kids, then beat him up and call the cops on him. But if he's just smoking weed, leave him alone.

Peoples lives really get ruined by these immoral laws. visit www.LEAP.cc and find out what police are saying about these immoral laws. Even the police are starting to understand.

Keep the peace and don't use drugs (ie alcohol & nicotine).

Alcohol is ok in moderation. Marijuana is safer that alcohol so don't get bent out of shape just because he smokes a little mother earth.
