10 minute break?

I live in NC
and as a minor I am entitled to at least 2 10 minute paid breaks.
Well, my job does not give me, or anyone else for that matter, any breaks.
We have to ask for a break and most of the time are told no.
What can I do to fix this without risking my job?

You may want to contact the National Labor Relations Board first. Anytime you question those in charge, you take the risk of loosing employment. You might also want to contact EEOC and Your State's Attorney General. Americans are loosing if they don't fight back. Right To Work States get away with everything, including not paying Workmen's Compensation, breaks etc...they act as if they are in Third World Countries! Are you a full time employee? Can you site your source of why you believe you are due 2-10 breaks?
wish you were a union member now dont you.
I heard the same thing, and thought I could do something about the seemingly random break times I was given. But the place you working for might be a franchise or something and can pretty much do whatever they want. Fire you for no reason, give you a 3 min. break. Whatever. If I were you, I would call your boss' boss, and find out what the policy really is on break length. Never be afraid to go over your boss' head, they won't bring it up to you even if they find out about it, and they're not allowed to anyway.
Check with the Department of Labor. They have the break guidelines on their website. And, if you have a complaint, they'd be the ones to file it with.
The Federal Fair Labor Standards Act provides that you have to have a 10 minute break in a 4 hour time period. If your work time is less than 4 hours total, you don't get a break. If your work time is 4 hours or more, then you can call the Labor Commissioner and report the condition and they can investigate and talk to the employer without naming you.
Check with your local labor board I know there are stipulations on how many employees there has to be in order for the laws to be in effect. If there are not a lot of employee's then chances are you have no grounds for anything as businesses with just a few employees dont have to provide for things like other larger companies do
A rest break (generally 10 or 15 minutes) and a meal break (usually 30 minutes or more) are not required by law for anyone who is 16 years of age or older. A 30 minute break after 5 hours is required for youths who are 14 or 15 years of age.
