How does the political process influence the enforcement of laws by the police?

Answers:
The Political Process, doesn't actually influence how the Police enforce the laws, but it helps to create the laws and sentencing guidelines etc. Police have a certain amount of leeway as to if they want to write a ticket, give a written warning or just give a verbal warning for speeding for example.

Well, the politicians make the laws, so I suppose they control what the police can enforce by law.
