what are legal rights concerning marijuana? like is it illegal to smoke it...or only posess it??

Geez, what century are you in buddy? You cannot smoke or possess marijuana in any shape or form (according to the law).

Federally, you can neither possess or smoke. In CA, you only need a crooked doctor to give a note or card. It'll only run you about $500.00. If its legit, it'll be charged to your insurance company ; )
It's not legal...to do either unless you are one of the 5 glaucoma patients who have legal federal prescriptions for it...possesion of less than (?)...they don't punish you for...it is against federal law...
Under federal law you can not posses, transport, grow or sell pot at all. Here in Alaska the courts have ruled that it is legal to poses up to 4 ounces for personal use. Not likely you will encounter a federal law enforcement officer in your day to day activities.
