if i resign from my job giving my employer the correct notice and they tell me to leave before that rather do they have to pay me for that notice period

Unless you have a contract or such that stipulates otherwise, no. If you don't work, they don't have to pay you. It is no different than if they had fired you for a different reason.

You should have said what kind of work you do and the size of the company. Regardless letting someone go immediatly happens all of the time for obvious reasons.
Legaly having to pay you? They do not. But if you have a professional job you probably signed something that says the do pay. Or there is a written policy somewhere so employees are not afraid to give notice.
Its actually kind of rare for companies not to pay. Thats because what happens is word gets around. Then every employee quitting just waits until the day they want to leave and just quits that day. The company is blindsided, there is confusion and they lose money one way or another. Plus its bad for moral as it makes the company look like they just don't care about their employees. Plus employees leave, bad mouth the company and the company image suffers within the field. Word gets around (as it always does somehow) and then good people won't consider working there as its indicitive of other issues w. the company.
If you still work there subltly ask around. Or call someone from another company who used to work for yours and ask them if they got it. Again some of this depends on what you do as to if you could raise a ruckus and they might just give in.
So most pay especially if they want to attract good people.
