HELP! I lied on my resume and used a fake refrence letter and now the employer is threating to sue me!?
I worked for a doctor a while ago and seen that the dr. was doing unethical things. I reported the dr. to OSHA and quit. Since then, anytime I apply at a new job and they contact my previous employeer, the dr. says I embezzled money and that I was fired. WHICH IS COMPLETELY UNTRUE! I asked the new offices to submit in writing what my previous employeer is saying about me but no one will. I contacted MIOSHA to file a complaint against the dr. for slander but they informed me that I had to have proof. I have tried telling new employeers the truth about the Dr. I worked for but it makes them nervous that I reported her.I have a new baby so I really needed a job.I was frustrated and desperate so a friend created a false refrence letter with the Dr.'s name on it. It only said that I was a great employee. The numbers on the letter were my friends. The dr. found out and is threating to sue me. I dont know what to do? How much trouble can I get in now? Please help.

Be calm. I don't think the employer can sue you over a fake resume and reference letter. He can fire you but that's about it. People lie quite a bit on resumes. That's the chance you take.
As for what the other Doctor is doing regarding his informing potential employers of your embezzling is (I am pretty sure) illegal.
Get an Attorney who will call this office on your behalf and pose as a potential employer. He can then witness first hand what this office and Doctor is saying about you. Those other jobs you applied for who received this wrong information can be subpoenaed to testify that this Doctor did say these things.
You need to get the proof first. You can't tape record the conversation without the consent of the other person on the phone, so a speaker phone environment would be best where others can hear what is being said.
Go get a consultation with a Lawyer.
Get some advice from a public lawyer.
Maybe now is the time to talk to an attorney!!
Where is the doctors proof that you embezzled money? Get a lawyer, contact OSHA explain to them what is going on. Maybe they could assist you. I am sure this isn't the first time this has happened. They (doctors) will back each other up. I would suggest again a lawyer or a new line of work.
Lying is never a good idea. I would break that habit right away, and then find a lawyer to help you. Best wishes!
If you lied on your resume - how do we know the rest of your story is true or not?
The problem with lying is that it places _everything_ you say into doubt.
you should have just left him off the list, but what you did was fraud
