Smoking...?

What do you think to the smoking ban in public places (Indoors)?

Answers:
I don't agree with it. I'm a nonsmoker, and my attitude is, if I go into a place where I know there is smoking, that's the choice I make. I'm well aware of the toxins that I inhale from second hand smoke. I make that choice. I don't see why smokers should continue to be punished.

It doesn't matter anyway. The FDA is taking over the smoking industry . . . just wait about ten years, and it'll either be so taxed into the ground that people will have to quit, or they'll make it illegal all together. Smokers are already ostracized as it is.

about time
indifferent, its a good idea but ills top if and when i want to, at least the air is clean again!!
Splendid! One of the few wise moves the government ever made!
Life if so much better since it came in. Second hand smoke kills and we shouldn't be subjected to that.
i think it sucks and people need to stop crying about other people smoking!!
its stupid why stop it what about breathing fumes from buses and cars is that not much worse?
Great. If smokers were more socially responsible it would never have come to this. They decided to be selfish and subject us all to their habit, so they have no one to blame but themselves. I didn't force them to drink my beer against their will, but they did force me to inhale their smoke.
As a non-smoker it doesn't bother me, but I believe we are becoming a police state.
i think its a good idea, it will be more healthy to the enviroment
Feels like we have reverted back to kindergarten.
I just have to go outside now. I don't really mind would like to quit.
.I have never smoked indoors because I think it is rude to subject others to my smoke. I think it is sad that we need public policy for people to act in a considerate way.
i think it terrible really so ufair on smokers, i am a none smoker but do feel smokers have been treated bad.

as a none smoker if someones smoke was getting to me i would ask them nicely or move, not expect them to go out side in the cold

regards x kitti x
i dont like it.i mean i need to have a ciggarette when i have coffe.it was fine when you had the separate corner for smokers ,now it nothing
There is no evidence that shows secondary smoking is harmful. The ban has nothing to do with health, if it had banning the sale of tobacco would be enforced. It's more to do with the government gauging how much they have us under control.
More ciggy butts on the pavement!
I think its great but as a past smoker i think people who still wish to go to clubs/bars and smoke should still be catered for by special licensed premisis. Never ever think it should be allowed in restraunts though as is the height of rudeness to ruin another persons meal! Smokers have rights but the ban is a great thing!
well we know that whoever smokesz doesnt like it and whoever doesnt smoke doesnt like it

but to get to the point

i think it was a great idea
second hand smoke is even more dangerous than smoking itself and by being able to smoke in public places your affecting the health of everyone around you

this includes little children

if you want to hurt yourself and smoke then by all means go right ahead
but please dont involve the rest of the world who would rather keep themselves alive and health
ive been told you cant smell nicotine but its been replaced with flatulence body odour
I think it's great for the people who decide they want to preserve their lungs. Iam not ragging on smoker's but I think it's respectfull for non-smokers which if you don't smoke, then you know second hand smoke can really bother you and make you sick. Although I do think there should be an exception for bars.
its the best thing to happen since they decided to slice bread now I can go out and breath clean air and enjoy a good pub lunch and not have to have my life ruined by some idiots choice to slowly poison themselves and everyone around them go on goverment!
absolutely amazing. my mum was friends with a barman who was killed purely from passive smoking. glad it won't happen to anyone else. it also affects members of the public going into a restaurant and everywhere u go you it smells of smoke and you come home smelling like that too. R.I.P John x
Hurrah for it, I say... I can now pursue my two favourite pastimes of watching live music and drinking beer without having to pursue my less favourite pastime of dying of respiratory disease...
just watch as loads of pubs close down over the next 12 months, in Ireland over 400 pubs have closed down since the smoking ban was introduced.

It would have been far more sensible to allow pubs to decide if they want to be smoke free or not then both sides, smokers and non-smokers would have a choice.

Just more nannying from a Government that doesn't really know what it's doing.
Its brillant! Its really nice to come home not stinking of smoke. Also now people with asthma are able to come out to the pubs too etc..
Plus, The amount of English smokers will fall now because who wants to go in the cold outdoors in the winter?
I think in the next 50 years hardly any english will smoke at all.
It is totally wrong to tell someone what they can or can't do in their own home. If we allow that to happen where will it end?
I'm all for banning it in places where non-smokers are present, but if people want to smoke at home they should be allowed. If they have families who object they should sit outside to smoke.
Our local Council asks tenants not to smoke if any Council employees are in their homes, and yet when a plasterer turned up recently to repair a ceiling damaged by a burst water tank he frequently went outside to smoke! Contradictory or what??
I think that's great. It has been pr oven over and over again, that it is detrimental to ones health by being exposed to second hand smoke. It is no different than not allowing a person that is handicapped in a wheel chair onto your business premises. And the feeling of suffocation when being in closed quarters with people that have a cigarette going.
In a community not far from where I live in British Columbia Canada, we have a major employer that contributes to the local economy has not only banned smoking totally on their premis. They have even forbidden one to smoke in your own vehicle while it is driven on their roads to get to the parking lot.
as a smoker its nothing new to be told i have a designated area to smoke in, most places have shelters outside now anyway so its no problem.
the thing i severley disagree with is being treated as a second class citizen because of it, having to put up with all the dis-approving looks and comments from people who dont know me just because i have a ciggerette in my hand.
also i want to know why the the house of commons and house of lords is not covered by this ban. the government should lead by example in cases like this
load of rubbish, another nail in the coffin of democracy,
