Is there a small claims court in South Carolina?
I actually read somewhere that there wasn't. I can't imagine any state NOT having a small claims court. I am curious if anyone can actually confirm or debunk this notion.

Just called something different; Magistrate court
There are approximately 300 magistrates in South Carolina, each serving the county for which he or she is appointed. They are appointed to four-year terms by the Governor upon the advice and consent of the Senate. Magistrates must also pass a certification examination within one year of their appointment. Magistrates generally have criminal trial jurisdiction over all offenses subject to the penalty of a fine, as set by statute, but generally, not exceeding $500.00 or imprisonment not exceeding 30 days, or both. In addition, they are responsible for setting bail, conducting preliminary hearings, and issuing arrest and search warrants. Magistrates have civil jurisdiction when the amount in controversy does not exceed $7,500.
look on google for answers it is very helpful.
I would think like most states your local Government would handle small claims court issues.
call your county court house and ask. It may be that the 'small claims' court has a different name in S.C., but there has to be a way to address minor issues such as would be addressed in a small claims court.
Every court jurisdiction has a small claims court. You can call your local courts to find one in your town.
There are only 'miniature' and 'large' courts SC, but no small ones. Perhaps you should find a larger amount of requested damages to sue someone for too make it worth your time. Good luck.
