Copyright question?
I have a professor who puts her powerpoint slides on my college's website. She informed us that if we were to print the slides out that it would be copyright infringement, and she could sue us if she wanted. I was wondering if that was true. I thought that if we printed them but didn't use them for any gain other than to just study, then its not copyright infringement. Any information would be a great help.

she sounds to me like a terrible college professor, since "fair use" is an exception found in copyright laws and to become a college professor would've had to of some time in her academic career used that privilege. yes, you could print some of the slides out and even reproduce them in a college paper if you wanted, so long as you cite her work.
Printing them would fall under fair use, so she couldn't sue you. But just to avoid problems, I'd suggest you not let her know you're printing them.
