How old were you when you became aware that you could bring a civil action for any cause whatsoever?

I ask this because I haven't always been aware of this, and while I know that not all causes are worth being taken to court (or have a chance to win), this could have been helpful to me in other times...

In times, I was convinced that the law already stipulated which causes could be taken to court (and those were relatively restricted cases).

Answers:
Well you can *try* to sue for anything...but if you don't have a valid claim, the defendant will get your case kicked out on a motion to dismiss.
