Who has legal right to deceased aunt's furniture?
My aunt past away in Feb. and her granddaughters were told to empty her house (it was foreclosed). Their Dad could not deal with it so he made them. Anyway they decided to give me a diningroom set that no one else had claimed. I did not ask for it- they offered it & said I would take care of it. I ask them if they really wanted me to have it even when my B/F and friend came to get it. The girls told me to take it and helped us load it. Their Dad said he had planned to sell it but didn't question their decision. I have had it for 1 1/2 months. A family member came in from out-of-state (didn't make it to the funeral & hasn't been in for 5 yrs) and claims to have been given the set. She also claims to have a document from my aunt (Forged?). My aunt told 1 grandaughter about her insurance policies, deed, etc. as well as who should get important items like the other furniture but didn't mention who should get this set.
Is the set mine or does this member have valid civil claim?

The claim is not valid. If it was ever valid, the validity died with your aunt. The furniture is part of the estate, and if the will does not give explicit instructions, the executor may dispose of the estate in a reasonable manner.
Let the jerk have the stuff. Been down this path more than once. These morons are not worth the bother. You are better off without this kind in your life, relatives or not!!
