I believe my friend (who is an immigrant and barely speaks english) is being screwed out of money on a real e?

estate deal. She signed all these papers to sell her house and is waiting for a check that is being promised but they keep on bullshitting her and stalling and saying "real soon" but it's been months upon months and she has not seen a dime. What are her options? She has no idea how real estate works in this country and doesn't fully understand the language.

Specifically she lives in the Los Angeles area. And free legal aid would be beneficial.

Thanks

Answers:
In Texas, they have a government office called the Texas Real Estate Commission. They may have something like that in Calif. If so, file a formal complaint online with them explaining the matter.

They will investigate. I'll bet you they will get some results for her.

tell her to go to a lawyer from the phone book that advertises free consultation, and get their opinion

good luck to her
I would suggest getting a realtor and try selling again.
Sounds like she needs to get a lawyer if they don't give her the check. I would tell her to call one more time and tell them that if she doesn't get her check she is going to be filing a lawsuit. That might get them to jump on the ball.
look at local am stations, they usually have real estate or legal advice.
Should have learned the language so she could understand the transaction.
