what legislation and regulatory requirements need to be followed when collecting client information?

Answers:
The Commonwealth set out requirements for Commonwealth agencies under the Privacy Act 1988..These requirements were extended to the private sector in the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000. There are 15 Health privacy principles under this Act.The book below is useful..I am studying Health, Ageing and Community services (Bach) Hope this is useful..

Can you define "agecare"? There are healthcare information privacy regulations. Is this what you are talking about?
Are in Australia? If so, each State has it's own standards for Aged Care. There are two Victorian Acts that pertain to the Community Services sector: The Victorian Information Privacy Act and the Victorian Health Records Act.
