Can a person not get locked up because of a relationship with a cop.?
I know of an incident where there were four people involved in a crime. Everyone was locked up except for one person whose parent is involved with a cop who was on the case. Can something be done about that? The person can not lie about being there because they are listed as one of the witnesses.

It happens. It's not right. It's probably more trouble than it is worth, but if you want to make sure the guy gets prosecuted, talk to the local district attorney and let them know what is happening.
Who gets charged in a crime is not up to the police; it's up to the district attorney or prosecutor.
That said, if they decide to not charge someone because a cop falsified records, that's fraud. You might want to look into it and call internal affairs or the prosecutor's office if that's the case.
I have to say I guess you can if you are involved...don't agree with it...have never heard of a case like that...
You say the person was listed as a witness. Were they a witness or part of the crime? Were they all of legal age or where the other three legal and the one a minor. If all four were involved in the crime did they all equally take part?
There are too many unanswered questions here. Are you just assuming that the reason they were not placed in jail was because of the preexisting relationship or do you actually know this?
If the person is listed as a witness, why would he be locked up?
In general this would be an ethical violation and would be reported to the Chief of Police and/or Internal Affairs. Be prepared for retaliation; if it is true that a cop covered for his girlfriend's son/daughter than he has no problem with coming after you. Speeding tickets, broken tail light, running stop signs, the list of potential harassment goes on and on.
