If a state suh as Kentucky is an at will state, meaning an employer can fire you for any reason, can a former?

employee sue for at least a minimum of back wages, if they found out the reason they were fired was not legitimate. Ex. Fired for violating company olicy, but after investigation it was found out that I did not violate any company policy. It was determined that the company violated it's own policy, and fired me for their mistake.
This firing has left me unable to find a job in my choosen career due to it was reported to the licencising board. The board, whom I talked to 2 weeks ago, implied this was not going anyfurther, because there was no evidence tha I did any thing wrong, cannot take any action till sept. of this year. Any comments would be helpful, thanks

Answers:
There is a difference between being fired for "no reason" and being fired for the wrong reason.

You were fired for the wrong reason. I think you have a case.

you have a great lawsuit and need to contact a local attorney!
Try the state Labor relations board; you might be entitled without a suit.
