gay mariage?

This country is supposed to be "free" right?
Then why can't people make decisions like that on their own?
If we're free then why can't people marry who they want?

I personaly am not gay but I feel sorry for the people who just want to be happy and the government constantly makes up rediculous rules like this!

What are your opinions?

Answers:
I believe anyone should be able to marry who they wish. I'm straight, so i married a woman, but who are we to tell someone who to love, or how to love?

I believe people have the right to marry whoever they want to. It is not the right of some to decide what they think is "morally" right for everyone. I have no problem with gay marriage.
I believe we should vote this in an election. At least we couldn't argue against gay marriage when the majority voted for it.
I think that "gay" relationships are still considered a deviancy within the parts of our government that apparently have the most power in these decisions. I've heard it compared to "marrying the family pet." "Just because I love my dog doesn't mean I can marry him."
I think that's a pretty radical comparison (One of those things that makes me wonder how radical conservatives can scrutinize radical liberals for being too radical.) We're talking about mature, consentual relationships, here.
I don't see what difference it makes. They'll pay taxes, they'll buy houses, they'll contribute to their community, just as much or little as any other couple.
I also think that there's a fear that if gay couples can marry, that it will become more accessible for them to adopt. There are arguments saying that the child won't be raised in a "balanced" environment. I would rebuttle with the amount of single parents we have struggling in our society, and the type of assistance we give them.
We are free, with limits. I like to think that the big guys think of it as slavery with benefits.
This country is suppose to be "free" so people who want to kill other people that should be fine? Or people who want to walk over the boarder if they choose too is fine? People who have sex with minors is ok? Even though this country is free there still has to be rules to hold order and make it a safe place to live. To me it doesnt matter who marry's who, but at the same time i dont want my 4 year old niece seeing a guy kiss a guy or a girl kiss a girl. It is not the type of environment I want my kids to grow up in.
yes, people should be allowed to marry whoever they choose, and if they happen to be of the same sex, so be it. what is wrong with that? how is it affecting anyone else's life in a way that makes others unable to continue what they want to do. and if there are, those people should learn how to mind their own businesses. it's not their fault if they're born into feeling homosexual tendencies. that's like saying i disagree to artificial prosthetics because it makes me uncomfortable.
firstly, its none of my business
and secondly even if i am, tough, i'll have to learn to deal with it. the difference between the man applying for prosthetics and i is that he did not have a choice in his loss of limbs, but i do have control over what i feel, and if knowing what is right but still consciously not doing it, then i will be in the wrong
