My employer hired me with a nose ring a year ago. Now they want me to remove it. Do I have rights?
Answers:
This sounds like a job for Judge Extreme Akim. He had a case like yours a little while ago and the plaintiff won. You would be the plaintiff and the employer the defendent. If he hired you knowing you had the nose ring and also allows other employees to show their tats, etc. he would be discriminating against you and that's against the law. Go for it. In case you've never heard of Judge Extreme Akim-he has a show called Eye for an Eye.
You have the right to remove your nose ring to keep your job.
Yes you do have rights. You have the right to find another job.
If it's in the handbook (or whatever) then they've been basically cutting you a break. If not, then it still really is there choice so you should listen to them.
You can still wear it outside of work at least!
Have Fun!
Yeah, you have the right to remove the nose ring. It's a free country you don't have to work for such an unreasonable employer.
Do you take the customers hamburger, fries and drinks order?
or are you the dishwasher or janitor ?
doesn't really matter! if you want to keep your job, simply comply with the your employer, if not, quit!
Plenty of rights. None that say your employer can't fire you for not observing the dress code.
Unless you work in a unionized work place or for the government, the answer is almost certainly not. Outside of government employee's with civil service protection or those protected by union contracts, most employees are employees at will. That means that your employer can fire you just because your boss woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
Basically, the rule is that you can leave your employee whenever you want for whatever reason and they can ask you to leave whenever they want for whatever reason.
just put a tinyy stud in or ive seen people like cut a little piece from a band aid like the tan sticky part and just put it over their nose ring if they werent allowed to have it. then when the work day is over just take the band aid part off.
good luck =]
Your rights are not the issue here. The issue is your employer has decided that he does not want you to wear a nose ring,(or stud). It is up to you whether you want to keep the nose ring or find another job.If you fight it and win,he will just find another excuse to fire you.
It's a whole lot easier to take out a nose ring than to remove tattoos. I'm sure they would love to have the tattooed people to get rid of their ink, but that's a fairly invasive procedure with pain, risk and expense.
What they're asking you to do is nothing in comparison. Just take it out while you work or find another job.
