In Arizona if I put in my two weeks notice and my boss lets me go before my notice is up?
was I fired from the job? Does she have to pay me right then and there?
Answers:
If you give two weeks notice, they are not obligated to keep you on for those two weeks. The risk goes up on theft and lack of work, laziness and failure to show up.
I have been a manager for many years and if someone gives two weeks notice, I tell them to go home.
You gave notice first before you are told to go home so officially..You quit. Its not fired and no way laid off.
You volunteered to leave.
The general rule of the thumb for managers is if someone gives notice, you get rid of them right on the spot. There is too much of a risk of theft, sabatoge, inefficiency etc. Obviously there are places and people that are exceptions but in general you do not take the risk
No. He has the right to let you go.
You were not fired. They took you up on your wanting to quit. A lot of companies do that all over not just in Arizona. A lot of times jobs are worry about their enviroment and the people you work with. I don't know how the pay works in Arizona but some jobs give you a check then and some dont.
Yes when ever your fired the Labor relation Board requires this to be done. Firing you in the period that you have already given a notice you are able to draw your unemployment benefits without being penalized. If it was me I would go are call the Labor Relation Board tell them what they did to you and if they agree they will go your company that fired you, make them pay you back pay from the time you were fired until you resignation was suppose to take effect. They don't mess with Company's like that , they will go in and put a complete audit on them for years back on their employment history. I worked in the payroll dept. of a company when I was going to college a similar thing happened and here they came and when come in they have to provide all them records back for ever how many months or years they want to look at, they can be real rude to the people that have theses papers, if you ask them anything they'll tell you. just leave us along, we don't need your help , stay out of our way. You'll get your back pay maybe more.
