Should equality be applicable in these cases?
Everyday I hear woman rights group complaining about equal pay and equal promotion for women. Yet I did not hear anyone of them complain about when Debra Lafave and Mary Kay Letourneau both got house arrest for statutory rape.
Answer:
hmmmm....good point.
Because those were two sensationalist, media-hyped cases while the issue of equality affects every single person on earth.
Damm right it should. Women are always getting a pass.
Mary Kay was in jail for some time in fact. Many women have complained about the women who abuse boys, its wrong because abusing some child is wrong not because of what sex the perpetrator is.
The DA in the Lafave case dropped some charges, and the mother of the boy didn't want a trial so agreements were made, she lost her license to teach and got three years house arrest and seven years probation.
The actions of some sick individuals have nothing to do with the availability of equal pay and equal opportunity for the majority of women, If that were true, then men, who outnumber women in jail for rape wouldn't ever be considered as reliable, stable or employable.
Let alone superior to them.
