What are your legal ramifications against an insurance company that only gave you ONE surgeon you were allowed
He of course, almost killed my husband, and he had to have a second surgery done at a much better teaching medical center..is there an insurance commission that I can report this egomaniac incompetent doctor--HE IS STILL GETTING ALL THE REFERRALS FROM THIS POS INSURANCE IN OUR AREA----IS THERE AN INSURANCE COMMISSION? BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU? I don't want other deaths on my conscious and this guy is incompetent.
Answers:
You have every right to seek a different insurance company or a better policy with your current provider.
Point out the fact that there is only one surgeon in your area to the insurance provider. Then ask who to see if you want a second opinion.
Many small towns do not have many surgeons to begin with. Sometimes the residents have to go to the big city to get treatment.
He should be reported to the AMA and possibly you should file a malpractice claim against him and be prepared to offer all evidence that will show what he did that was wrong.
In Hawaii, on the Big Island there are few surgeons and if you need a second opinion it is a crap shoot finding one who you feel comfortable with, so the same holds true for small towns. Sometimes you have to enlist the aid of a surgeon in a different specialty. Good luck!
