I'm not getting the "stop snitchin" policy?
I see that this is so popular when it come to murderers and rappers where the t-shirts saying this. I see this so much on the news and it disturbs me that no one confesses to crime at all. I know what "snitchin" is but school me on why the world accepts this.

It's a lot of reasons. Some do it out of fear, some do b/c the person it involves is well respected, or loved. Some do it b/c they don't want to be thought of as a snitch. Being a snitch is not a label you want to be given in certain neighborhoods b/c bad things start to happen to you and your family.
fear
I agree with Matthew. It's fear, you have to look at their living conditions. Most of them don't trust cops, so they look to those on the other side of the law for protection.
I also believe that most of those who live by this so-called code of the street do so because they try to emulate what they see in movies. They want to be Tony Montana, and Tony Montana is no snitch.
Candi Bliss answered this well, but yeah there are lots of reasons why you don't want to be a snitch. People will think of you as a punk or weak. People will automatically assume your working with the police. Listen to "F.u.c.k the police -NWA" A lot of people don't really respect and care for them so you see where i'm going with this. If you snitch and end up goin to jail anyway it's gonna be hell to pay. Also you'll be known for putting a respected and/or loved person behind bars and your family will be behind bars. And thats whether or not this person was doing serious crimes. hope i helped
I have no idea. But it's kind of hypocrital, don't you think?
There are some instances where snitching is bad and some instances where snitching is good but who decides and based on what criteria?
The people in these rough neighborhoods don't have enough protection. Certainly, the way resources are divided helps to explain. So these thugs can intimidate with little recourse because the people that could do something choose not to because they are either not able to or will have some powerful person crying about their tax dollars being used to support something other than what they see as right?
Actually, when such T-shirts were being worn, many local and state law officials were outraged because of the same reason that you mentioned. It was a "signal" to people not to report a crime that they may have witnessed. Depending on the state, the law varies. But, I do know that in Massachusetts, the t-shirts were in the process of being banned. Some idiot came up with this money making " stop snitchin" and, of course, the punks thought it was COOL, the teenagers thought it was trendy and " it was the in thing". As I previously mentioned, " money maker". Somebody, somewhere, made their quick buck!! I don't believe that is was or, is accepted by the world but, the damage has been done.
