I was wondering where I would go to turn someone in for false statment on a Bill of Sale?
I bought a car from this guy in Texas. On the Bill of Sale the guy put down that I traded in a vehicle which I didnt. He had written down the VIN number and all the information for the vehicle that I suppossedly traded in. I had paid 6890 for the car. The bill of Sale said I paid $6999 and he wrote I traded in for $6599. So I would only have to pay taxes on the difference. I told him I didnt want him to do that but he insisted so when I went to pay the sales tax I ended having to pay tax on the $6999. He also had false statements on the add and everything else this car has been nothing but trouble. I would like to turn him in he doesnt need to be selling anymore vehicles. No one else needs to get ripped off. So what are the Laws against doing what he did and where can I go to report him?

I believe you would be just as guilty of any wrong doing a he is. You both signed the same piece of paper, claiming it was the truth. Are you sure this isn't because you are mad that you make a poor vehicle choice, and now you are blaming him and want him to pay for you're decision?
And I fully agree with the guy above me. There is something very fishy about that. He now has on record that he got some strange car from you. It makes no sense, somewhere, there is somebody who never signed over the ownership of this car.
I'd say just sue him except I am wondering if he was using your bill of sale to paper his having ownership of another car he may have gotten in an illegitimate manner (like maybe stolen) in which case you sure don't want to be down as the record owner.
Hm.
Police?
Once you read and signed the document you became an accessory to his crime, you should have never signed it in the first place, you are as guilty as him, if you rat on him you will pay the same price as him more than likely. I would have walked on the spot if that happened to me then called the IRS to report him, he would be in jail right now if that were the case. I recommend letting it go or suffer the consequences!
Do you have a local news channel that investigates things like this? Many cities do.
Go to the county or city prosecutor's office and talk to them? If your trying to remove scum from their district they might offer some assistance.
Sounds to me like there's some tax violations here too. Possibly tax fraud.
You have several options. It's more a matter of how much time do you want to spend on it.
