Which is more taboo, being caught with alcohol underage or being caught with pot?
Which is seen as worse if you're applying for law school, having a count of underage drinking on your record or having a count of possession of marijuana? Which looks worse? Or is one worse than the other?
Answers:
Both are bad, but "pot" is worse. "Pot" is always illegal, whereas drinking is legal after 21 (or 18 in some states).
Those considering your application probably at least tried alcohol when they were under-age (even if they were not caught and it is not on their record), on the other hand not nearly as many people have tried drugs.
Neither one is worse than the other for purposes of applying to law school.
being caught
pot
But neither is a bar to admission. If your grades are good and you do well on the LSAT, you have a good chance of getting in, provided you're honest about the conviction.
You will get a chance on the application to explain it--I recommend an "it was stupid, this is how I learned from my mistakes" tack.
Being caught with pot would be much more harsh. The rabbits borough would go down deeper. They'd have you answering a bunch of questions.
Both are two very stupid things to do. Any school that has people with half a brain that are running it will see that...
Pot is illegal, so that would be the no no on this one.
Either charge will haunt you for a very long time when your need others to accomplish something. Personally, I think the pot is worse.
i think that they are both thought of as taboo.but personally i think that alcohol is worse because of what it ends up doing to peoples lives.where as pot makes you feel happy and most people who drink are not happy they are usually depressed people.
Basically -
Breaking in to a house for warmth, and breaking in to a house for thievery are one in the same act with different motives.
POT is illegal for anyone.
Alcohol is illegal for anyone underage.
Therefore, possession of marijuana looks worse. You can't grow up and then smoke pot, but you can grow up and drink alcohol.
However, the admissions department may view your character based upon your actions, and deem either act as reasons for your inadmission to their school, regardless of which is thought to be worse.
alcohol
