Do you think that an uneducated person is more likely to commit a crime than an educated person? Why or why no

Do you think that an uneducated person is more likely to commit a crime than an educated person? Why or why not? What are some other factors that might result in a person turning to crime?

Answers:
No, I don't think an uneducated person is more likely. Just because you haven't been through or finished you education, doesn't mean you lack common sense.

Other factors that may result in criminal behavior are simply the fact that you must. Some people need money & resort to stealing. I suppose this is where people get the idea that undeducated people perform criminal acts, because when people think of stealing or bad behavior, they typically think of an uneducated person who is dirty & lacks moral respectability, as opposed to a clean, white collar kind of guy. However, I know many people who have dropped out of high school and would never resort to stealing as a way of getting the things he/she needed, and vice versa.

Sometimes mental, physical, or sexual abuse at a young age can lead to a person performing acts of criminal behavior, regardless to whether or not that person graduated.

Also, if the person is raised badly at a young age, the child often will resort to criminal behavior, whether it be to gain attention, or simply because he or she is neglected and believes they can get away with it.

So basically, NO, I do not think that whether a person is educated or not has any effect on the chances of he or she resorting to crime in the future.

No, I think anyone is capable of committing a crime, haven't you ever watched the movie Trading Places??
Generally yes. If you look at all the people in jails, most of them aren't too smart..
Yes because usually less educated people do not have as much money as someone with an education. Thus, they have to commit crime to get money.

That's my opinion anyway.
It doesn't matter who you are or where you come from.
as a general rule, uneducated people usually commit crimes for less money or value than an educated person with an excellent job who can rob Enron blind in a single bound!
There are many different types of crime. I don't expect a senator or a congressman to rob a bank, but I do expect them to take a bribe!
That has nothing to do with commiting crimes in my mind. No I think it all depends on how the person grew up and their background, not if they are uneducated or not.
Social status is more likely to FORCE someone to commit a crime rather than their education. It is sad to say however, most unfortunate folks with no education dont get as far as the Educated ones and are trapped in a no win situation.
yes, for the most part. think of what most crimes are - stealing, murder, drug charges. these are mostly based on not having enough money, and on average an educated person makes more money than a non-educated person (except maybe for drug dealers ;-)

its the nature of the beast. that is why there is more crime in "low income" neighborhoods. it also happens that these low income neighborhoods have lower quality schools because they don't have as much tax funding because the people in those neighborhoods don't have as much money. its a cyclical problem.
I think education might be ONE of the factors but not the only one. An educated person might be more aware of the consequences and laws. Also, they might have more to lose, like a high paying job than someone who is uneducated. Those are a couple of reasons why an educated person is less likely to commit a crime.
However, I think educations also plays a role in what TYPE of crime a person commits. The Enron scandal was caused by some of the most intelligent and educated people. Political crimes, money laundering, etc. all are crimes committed by educated people.
That is kind of a big question, I don't have actual stats on your question, you might try corrections.com. From my experience in law enf. most men and women that do commit crimes don't have that much education but I have seen my share of college level people in the system, many times education does not always equal common sense, It all depends on what values a person is raised.
First of all, just because your not uneducated does not mean your more likely to commit a crime than a more educated person. Where the difference is, is the type of crime being committed. Do you really think that educated people are not willing or thinking about committing a crime. A more educated person is going to be more sly or smarter about the crime and also pick a crime that is going to be more beneficial to commit, an uneducated person is not going to fully think the crime thru and is more likely to be caught for a crime that is really not worth committing. It really comes down to they type of person that you are. Are you a good person, or someone who wants to take advantage of other people or situations? That is the real question.
Well, education is supposed to make a person better. They should know how to act, etc. But the human mind is unique and each person reacts differently to certain things.Turning to crime depends on the individual..their values, morals, inner strength, stuff that an uneducated person can still possess. So I don't think that education has anything much to do with it, as a matter of fact, I think educated people make the best criminals. They are smarter after all!
There is no direct relationship. Its like asking if apples are more likely to grow on lemon trees or orange trees.
Illiterate people can have a highly moral nature and scholars can study how to commit the perfect crime.
Very few people start life with a criminal nature. If people were not constantly pushed into DESPERATION by other people and organizations, crime would drop dramatically.
It's more a matter of the types of crimes. Rich people tend to buy their way out of it. The poor sit in jails and wait for their lives to be ruined by the courts.
