What Happens to Human Bodies If no one Claims them?!?

What happens if some elderly person passes away peacefully at home and they have no family or money to speak of? What happens to the body? Does the state pay for the expenses?

Depends on where they live. In some areas, unclaimed bodies are cremated, buried in public cemeteries or donated for medical research.
Where I live, the county has a contract with a funeral home that provides funerals for indigent and unidentified people who die within the county.
