Doing Business As question.?
1.) Under a DBA, is anyone able to look up the business transactions/clients/employers of that business the way that employers can look up the past work history of people? Wouldn't they have to solicit the business owner for those records, as it is against privacy law to invade without consent of owner? 2.) Is it possible to work at a bar as a bartender, exotic dancer, etc using a DBA alias instead of their actual names? 3.) Are DBA's assigned 9 digit numbers for that business, equivalent to the way people have social security numbers as identification?
Answers:
DBAs are creatures of state law, so each state's procedure will be a bit different. However, generally:
1) It depends upon the business. Some businesses are tracked by organizations from Dunn & Bradstreet to credit monitoring agencies, and, as a result, some information may become available. However, it's not likely to be the work history of people or anything relating to transactions.
2) That depends upon the law of your state.
3) Only if you apply for an Employer Identification Number (EIN) from the IRS.
