California Curfew law?
I am 17, turning 18 in a month. I was recently issued a citation for being out past curfew. It was issued in Ventura county and on the actual ticket, it says 00:30 for the time. According to Wikipedia, during summer months, you are allowed out until 12:30 AM but i am unable to find any other information regarding the validity of this statement. Please give me more information regarding this new law and if i have any chance of fighting this and winning it. Thanks

That is what you get for using Wiki for legal advice. There are NO state-wide curfew laws in California, and Wiki is simply wrong. ALL curfew laws are local. If you were in a Ventura County area (which means a part of the County which is NOT part of a city), the ordinance is 6249, which says
"No person under the age of eighteen years shall loiter in or about a public street or other public place or place open to the public between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. of any day when not accompanied by his parent or legal guardian having legal custody and control of such person, or by the spouse over eighteen years of age of such person."
The critical word in this is "loiter," which, in California, means "with the intent to commit a crime as the opportunity may arise." You may not have been loitering.
If this happened in a city, we would have to know which one to be able to tell you what the curfew law is.
