If i walk away from seeing a crime would i get in trouble?
say i saw a mugging or a murder and just walked by would the cops arrest me?

If it looked like you were the person who committed the crime, you might be arrested, or if you might be a witness, you would definitely be questioned.
Possibly if you left without ever calling someone to aid the injured party. If you leave to keep yourself safe and call at the first opportunity you are OK.
You aren't expected to play superman, just use reasonable care, for both yourself and the injured person.
In NY there is law named for Kitty Genovese who was stabbed to death and left bleeding even though many people saw what happened and didn't call it in. That was many years ago.
