How to resolve paycheck shortages?
I am a contractor for a prison in Virginia and my employer is in California. I just realized that she has been shorting me 30 cents a day since the beginning of April. I send her a signed timesheet on the 15th and the last day of the month and the money is deposited into my account the following business day . The contract stated I would be paid the same day I sent my timesheet but I have never brought that up because it didn't really bother me. But being shorted 3 dollars on every check is adding up and I want her to stop! What is the best way to handle this?
also: I haven't been able to find all of my check-stubs/bank statements and timesheets yet so if I am missing any I wasn't planning on trying to claim the money since I have no proof of those few times.

the best thing to do is to say it to her. She can't charge you for postage and correspondence because I bet she claims this deduction on her tax return as business expense. Ask her for explanations first, and if she doesn't refund you or keeps writing short checks, tell her you are going to have the IRS to audit her books/ (If she shortens your checks, she does same to the others; and I bet does not include the proceeds in her taxable income/ )
She by law has to keep copies of all your pay stubs for 6 years. You need to call it to her attention and tell her you want all your back pay. If she doesn't help you, you need to go above her.
if 30 cents a day is worth pissing your employer off so they can fire you the first chance they get just call the HR department , otherwise look in your couch cushions to even out
