Do you think that if cities sue gangs it will make anything better?

If you have'nt already read about it San Fransico and New York (I think I dont remeber) there sueing gangs in genral not just indivuals but it basically states that if 2 gang members talk or walk or be in a car together they can be arrested.

now I'm a graffiti writer and im in a crew and crews and gangs are commonly thought to be the same thing so i could be arrested for being in a class with my friend and crew member.
so i could be arrested for attending class. Because most cops arrest then ask questions.

Is this a good thing to try or is just crowd control?

Answers:
Being arrested and being sued are completely different. Sueing is a civil tactic and arresting is for a crime.

If you are doing something illegal or violating probation, then you should pay the consequences.

Have you thought about how ugly your graffiti makes the public walls? It also costs losts of money (which is collected in form of taxes from people like me) to clean up your trash.

Now, go home and grow up.

Well it will just cause anger and these groups will retaliate. So NO.
if u are doing something illegal in groups that makes u a gang. now i agree that if two proven gang members are in the same place at the same time and talking to each other through them behind bars. gangs are a big problem in this country and anything that is done to disband them is a good thing.
The only thing that has me wondering about is, Sue gang members for what? A majority have grown up in poverty and low income environments. What can they be sued for?
I would say if you are keeping bad company, you might want to change directions.

If you are a grafitti "writer", meaning you think it's cool to mess on someone else's property, then you should be arrested all by yourself. That is littering and you know people hate it and the cities have to pay thousands of dollars to clean it up. Stop doing it.
When they spend a ton of money prosecuting a "non-entity" only to not get any return(money) they'll realize how much this tactic is gonna cost them! ;-)=
it's a good thing.
It gives police and cities a way to recover some of the cost of cleaning up gang graffiti..
if you want to really hurt someone, you do it through their pocketbook. "now I'm a graffiti writer" by your admission. this cost business owners a lot of money each year. small businesses who work with limited bottom lines and very small profits to support their families.

when i had my business, it was constant expense to paint over these 'works of arts' .it wasn't funny to me.

yeah i think that if the gang members and their families are held financially responsible for their actions this might have an impact and improve the situation.

i am for using any tool that might improve the situation.
Worse than crowd control, this is a method of population control. Gang violence is directly correlated with poverty, lack of education, absent work opportiunities and an attack on social programs generally, by the moneyed class. To truly eliminate gangs and gang crime/violence, one must address the fundamental social causes: poverty, lack of education/programs, etc. The rest is just a mechanism to further punish those trying to survive for being poor. This is a social control program for those elements of the population that are disenfrancjhised, marginalized; that is, NON-CONDUCIVE TO THE CREATION OF CAPITAL for those that own the society: ie corporate owners and managers...
No, I don't. Gang members are uneducated thugs. Does anyone think suing them will make them fly the straight an narrow? I don't get it. Use the money that will be wasted on these lawsuits and find a way to keep these people in school, to provide activities for them as kids, so the gangs don't seem so appealing to them.
