I was caught shoplifting at meijers. It was retail fraud 3rd degree. What am i looking at? Jail time?

If you are under 13, a spanking. You will probably get a hefty fine and community service. And a lesson well learned.
Have you ever been in trouble before? If yes, then you could get a jail sentence. If not you might be able to get away with a fine, probation, & maybe a shoplifters anonymous course.
if you are in Michigan, you are looking at a death sentence. Google Timothy Souders and look at what happened.
hopefully. why do you shoplift in the first place. that just makes the stores boost their prices to cover their loss and guess who pays. ALL OF US
So hopefully you'll get jail time so maybe you'll think twice next time about shoplifting.
If this is the first time...then you are probably looking at probation, fine and possible community service. Make sure you have an attorney even if it is a public defender.
I really hope you have learned something from this and aren't going to do it again. You do not even realize how many people are effected by shoplifters..prices going up etc..
