Is this breaking the trades description act or what?!?
ok i went to a local club in the town i live in last night and they had fliers on every table (which they also put on my cars windscreen every day) stating that pints are buy one get one free between 8 and 10pm on thursday nights. previously to us reading this the manager when asked about the offer said that it had been stopped. when i showed him the flier he still refused to honour the offer and provide us with our free pints. do you think we should shop him to the trades descriptions people? if so how do you go about it?

Your local trading Standards Dept enforce this legislation, see their entry in Yellow pages.doubt they will consider it worthy of a prosecution though...may send the publican a letter...agree, it is annoying.maybe you should have ordered two and only paid for one and let him take you to court...although the bouncers may have got you first.

Yes, you can contact via your local council offices or look up the number in yellow pages or similar for your area.
As long as you still have a copy of the flier AND you have reliable witnesses who would be willing to sign a statement supporting your complaint, why not write to your local newspaper and ask them to investigate and report? A very public way to let others know that they are being cheated and it would make a change from the usual local rag "cat up tree" type of story.
The newspaper would only publish if they were satisfied that there was no legal comeback possible. If they won't touch it, chalk it up to experience and don't push it. There are always other nightclubs.
