So it's not illegal for males to be topless in a store?

What if they have no sign posted and they say -verbally- 'you must have a shirt'? But its not even posted!??

Answers:
If a store employee tells you you must wear a shirt, then put on a shirt. The store doesn't HAVE to have a sign showing.

You think if there's no sign telling you to not spit your chewing gum on the underwear, you can do it?

Wear a shirt. It is not a matter of law. It is good store policy.
law vs custom. State law's vary; any business can refuse service to people improperly dressed
I have no problem with topless men as long as they carry less than 6% body fat.

7 and above should require a permit.
It is illegal in most States. If they say it verbally and it is not posted it still applies, as it is due to most State's health regulations.

Nearly all public entities, whether it is posted or not, as it should be common sense, it "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service".
I suppose that it would be acceptable "attire" at a beach front business, but anywhere else and I'd have to say it's rude and distasteful. So, by the way you through out that first question I'm guessing you're either jealous or find it an offensive double standard. Not that I'm all too sure I really want to see it, but I suppose that if women were "allowed" to bare their breasts in public as are men, it might just take a little of the fascination out of it...
Breasts of women are so ... and because of it, ladies shoud cover theirs top!

Be happy for ever sweetheart
There's no nudity law in Vermont for now...look up Brattlesboro, Vermont and you'll see what I mean. In the public domain such as in a store, there are laws about being unclothed; however, this can be taken to EXCESS as with tank tops on men or the commotion about a certain Presidential candidate!
